Metaneira is a publishing house based in Finland specialized in Eastern European cultural heritage. Our present focus of interest is Romania. We believe that this beautiful and unusual country should be better known. Our aim is to write and publish excellent full-colour books on a wide variety of cultural heritage subjects, such as mural paintings, archaeology, religious architecture and local traditions. We want to let our readers discover the geographical and cultural intricacies of a region where the modern challenges the old, and the traditional way of living is changing fast. Our books describe their subject in a way that is accessible and aesthetically satisfying at the same time. Besides preparing books, Metaneira pursues other interests within the field of cultural heritage: in the future, we shall propose tours in Bucovina to groups attracted by local traditions, breathtaking unspoiled scenery and the unique painted churches.
